Australian Capital Territory Numbered Acts Australian Capital Territory Numbered Acts(1) A short care and protection order, other than an assessment order or a therapeutic protection order, has effect for the period of not longer than 18 weeks that is stated in the order.
(2) An assessment order has effect for the period of not longer than 4 weeks that is stated in the order.
(3) However, an assessment order or specific issues order may be extended under subparagraph 251 (1) (c) (i) for a period equal to the period of the adjournment.
(4) A therapeutic protection order made as a short care and protection order has effect for the period of not longer than 8 weeks that is stated in the order.
(5) The time limits in this section do not apply to a therapeutic protection order made as a final care and protection order.
