DOMESTIC VIOLENCE (AMENDMENT) ACT (NO. 37 OF 1996) - SECT 4

4. Section 27 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (1) “not exceeding 6 months, or both” and substituting—

“not exceeding—

        (a)     in the case of a first offence—2 years; or

        (b)     in any other case—5 years;

or by both fine and imprisonment”.
