TRADE MEASUREMENT ACT 1991 (NO. 56 OF 1991) - SECT 73

False or misleading statements

73. (1) A person is guilty of an offence if the person makes a statement that is false or misleading in a material particular in—

        (a)     an application under Division 2 of Part V for a permit to sell a pre-packed article;

        (b)     an application under Part VI for a licence;

        (c)     an answer to a question asked by an inspector under Part VII; or

        (d)     a statement of a name or address to an inspector under Part VII.

Penalty: $2,000.

(2) It is a defence in proceedings for such an offence if it is established that, when the statement was made, the defendant believed on reasonable grounds that the statement was true and not misleading.
