(1) In this Part period of service , used in respect of a member to whom this Part applies, means the period, or the sum of the periods, during which that member was or is entitled to a parliamentary salary.(2) For the purposes of this Part, the period of service of a member is to be determined in accordance with the following provisions:(a) if a member of the House of Assembly ceases to be a member of the House by reason of its dissolution or its expiry by the effluxion of time, he or she is taken to remain a member until the day fixed for the taking of the poll next following the dissolution or expiry of that House;(b) subject to paragraph (a) , the actual period during which a person is a member is to be regarded as service for the purposes of this Part;(c) broken periods of a member's service are to be aggregated and credited to the member.(3) For the purposes of regulation 61(1) , regulation 63(1) and (2) and regulation 65(1) , in calculating the number of years of service as a member, a part of a year of service is to be regarded as a full year of service.
